As a reminder, nominations for elections will be taking place at this meeting.

May 1st is International Workers’ Day, or “May Day”

 

 

Today is an important day, as it honours the contributions and achievements of workers all around the world, while promoting social justice and labour rights.

Originating in the late 19th century, May Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggles for fair working conditions, equitable wages, and the right to organize.

As we all know, defending labour rights, equity, and justice is more urgent than ever. While keeping that in mind, this day allows us an opportunity to reflect on the importance of solidarity among all workers and to acknowledge the important role that each of us plays in our collective success.

Let us celebrate our achievements and continue to advocate for a fair and just workplace for all!

 

Today is very important and not just for the reason you may be thinking of.

 

Each year on April 28th, we acknowledge and remember the millions of workers who have passed or developed a disease or disability, due to workplace hazards.

In addition to remembering those workers, today also serves as a very powerful reminder of the ongoing need for safer and healthier working conditions and for the importance of advocating for all worker’s rights.

Today and every day, we stand united in our commitment to promoting safety, health, and dignity in the workplace.

 

Join us today in reflecting on the sacrifices that have been made by our fellow workers and renew our pledge to fight for a safer future for all.

It’s that time of year, again!

 

 

Do you have a child graduating high school this year? 

 

CUPE 4222 members’ children are eligible to apply for our Graduation Award in the year they receive their high school diploma

from any recognized educational institution in Canada

Please see the attached application for the CUPE 4222 Graduation Awards for the 2024-2025 School Year.

As part of your application you must submit a presentation, in the form of one of the below:

an essay

a poster

or an audio-visual clip

on “The Importance of Unions in Society” and please ensure to attach a Credit Counseling Summary.

All applications, presentations, and course credit summaries are due to the office by April 30th @ 4:00 pm, no exceptions.
